In the Bleak Midwinter
By Mike
In the bleak mid winter
frosty winds make moan.
Earth is hard as iron,
water like a stone.
Snow has fallen, snow on snow.
Snow on snow,
In the bleak mid winter
just like long ago
Gather 'round my kindred
on this solstice night.
By the blazing Yule fire,
sharing warmth and light.
Raise up high the mead horn,
feast and have good cheer.
Hail the sun's returning!
Hail the brave new year!
While the earth lies dreaming
in midwinter sleep.
Joyful watch we're keeping
on this night so deep.
Welcoming the trav'ler
knocking on our door.
Telling tales of heroes
and loved ones gone before.
In the bleak midwinter
bitter, dark, and cold.
Merrily we gather
with laughter free and bold.
True to one another.
True to our faith. O'
in the bleak midwinter
just like long ago.
